An Inconvenient Truth

Inconvenient Truth I would say that I am more of a realest then an idealist. That I am someone who sees the reality of life and realises that perfection is something that we work towards, but rarely reached. That being said I am not with out my ideals and romantic notions. I have typically seen so called “Greenies” as idealist, people removed or not wanting to see the realities of life. That we need timber to build our houses, coal for electricity and eating meat is all part of the cycle of life.

This weekend Laura and I watch the DVD documentary An Inconvenient Truth about global warming featuring Al Gore. One thing came home while watching the documentary and that is the reality of CO2 emissions. The fact is that CO2 in the atmosphere does affect global warming and that the amount of CO2 emissions has dramatically increased. The reality is that if something isn’t done about CO2 and if Governments do not move to limit our emissions then we are all going to be living in a different planet and it will not be that far off.

Laura and I are already signed up to Green Energy and do our bit for recycling etc. But the movie has helped me put into prospective the political nature of the debate and has made me put more importance on the policies being put forward by the various political groups.
