Woronora Bridge Loop

Summary

Location: Engadine to Woronora Via the pipeline and back through the RNP (27km’s)
Description: This trail is a loop out to Woronora and back. The loop follows the Woronora Dam pipe line access track out to a Boy Scouts camp and down to Woronora. Climbing up up out of Woronora and across Woronora Bridge into Sutherland. Taking the RNP tracks back to Engadine Train Station.

Pros

  • Some good hills;
  • Great fast sections;
  • Some single track;
  • Chance to buy lunch/food in Sutherland;
  • Nice ride under Woronora Bridge;
  • Great scenery; and
  • Some river crossings.

Cons

  • Hills are good for some, not good for others :-) ;
  • Single track from Boy Scouts buildings is a bit of a hike a bike and hard to find; and
  • Need a good map as there are a few possible wrong turns.

Review

I love this loop as it has it all, with some good hill climbs to test the engine, some great speed sections to get the adrenaline pumping, some nice scenery and you get to ride under Woronora Bridge (it’s and engineer thing).

This loop takes a view twist and turns, so make sure you print out the map or download it to your GPS if you are lucky enough to have one. The hardest part of the track is the Boy Scouts Camp as it is hard to find. Once at the Boy Scouts buildings you can find the single track at the North Eastern corner of the buildings. Follow this track all the way down to the river, where it goes of to the right. Follow the river until you meet up with the pipe line access track again. Follow the access track into Woronora.
