Run Forest Run (I Just Felt Like Running)

Run Forest Run
I have been running now since late 2006, previous to this I avoided running as a form of exercise. Mainly because I thought there was less impact intensive activities out there (like mountain bike riding) in order to stay/get fit. Now that I think about it I’m not really sure of the exact reason I started running, properly because I couldn’t
. When I started running I set myself the goal of running the city to surf (C2S) in Aug 2007, apparently it is un-Australian not to have run the C2S as a way of keeping me on track. Everyone can run but not everyone can run. It takes time (commitment) and determination (mental/challenge), I think that is one of the reasons why I have enjoyed it so fare. In the sort time that I have been running I have learned a few lessons. One lesson I learned early on was that, yes it was a high impact activity but that just means you have to increase your fitness level granularly and that sudden increases in exercise level (distance/speed) is what leads to injuries, which leads to disappointment, which leads I can not do this why bother. So I started out with a lot of run/walk runs to build up strength, soon I could run 5km’s then 10km’s and so on. Another thing I have learned is that running requires your whole body not just your legs and thus running is an excellent all over body fitness and strength exercise. At first it is a little frustrating with run/walking but once distance/endurance is built up running (under your own power) is very satisfyingly and I am glad I have but the time into building up my running.
Running Event Calendar
This calendar needs to be updated you bum. Get out there and do some races
My current running calendar can be found below. This helps to keep the motivation (pressure) up with training. Don’t know about you but it is easy to say “I don’t really fell like it” after a 12hr day of work and travel. When you have dates / goals to work towards it helps give me that extra kick along that I often need.
