Perfection – Is it an Elusion?
Going through Uni I worked from time to time with Cam as a builders labourer. I learnt a lot while working for Cam, but one thing that I have taken with me more then the others is that people (clients) do not pay for perfection, quality yes, perfection no. If they where paying for perfection then the quote would be a whole lot more.
Perfection by its definition suggests that it is static state, that it is unchanging in its nature that it is always the same, always perfect. If perfection was not static but in flux (changing) then how could it have been perfect. If perfection changed to be more then perfect then how could the old state have been perfect, it would have to have been less then perfect, non-perfect.
If a person was to be perfect then that person would have to be static, unchanging. To propose that a person is static is to suggest that the person is not growing, is not learning, is not experiencing. It is a person openness to change, there willingness for growth and desire for learning and knowledge or lack there of that shows a persons health and defines who they are and there character. When out in the bush it is the static pools of water that you stay away from, because that is where the bugs and germs like to bread and the clear flowing water that you drink.
If we where all perfect then we would all be the same. It is our imperfections that make us who we are, that differentiate us from the person next door. They define our appearance, they define our character.
