Injured But My Record Stands
Growing up, like most kids, I injured my self plenty of times but I never managed to break any bones.
I thought for a while last night that my record may have been broken (excuse the pun) but alas it still stands. After sitting in the emergency department of Sutherland hospital for 5 hours until 2:30am in the morning it turned out that it wasn’t broken after all, that I had done some soft tissue damage to my elbow. Still hurts, no matter what happened.
Out running Saturday evening I decided to take a bush trail I call the “tall timbers” loop. It sounded like a good idea at the time, nice run through some beautiful bush during a wonderful spring evening. While running along the track I tripped over a rock I didn’t see. Instinctively I put my arm out to stop my fall, resulting in what felt like at the time a broken arm.
Moral of the story is carry a mobile phone while running, because I was able to call my gorgeous wife to come pick me up from the end of the trail and take me to the hospital for some medical attention.
