Does The World Owe Me
I think it is time for a bit more of a meaty post
I have always been of the opinion that there are two broad types of people. There are those that see there job as a privilege and those that see there job as a right. In other words there are those people that are thankful for a job and those that believe the world (society) owes them a job. In my experience you will get two total different work ethics and pride in there work from the two.
After sitting down the other week and having a bit of a conversation (debate) at work about the new federal IR laws in Australia it started me thinking about society and what we should expect from it, which brought me back to the first paragraph.
We (that’s our taxes) as a society do have an obligation to help out those less fortunate and to do what we can to improve peoples lives. It comes down to being able to put food on your table and roof over your head. This can be done through welfare payments and sometimes this is the best way, but generally speaking I think it is best done through employment and employment opportunities as this helps people give back and feel part of society. So in a way it is a persons right to have a job at fare pay, but having said that I don’t think one persons (or societies) generosity should not be taken advantage off. We should all feel thankful for or jobs.
